Mission: Fotballs to Senegal

Frida J Johansson and Anna Norberg started the project Mission: Footballs to Senegal in the beginning of March 2015. Our vision was to collect as many footballs we could just to the end of March 2015 to personally be able to hand out the footballs to children in Senegal.

In August 2014 Anna went to Senegal on voluntary work and that was where the idea for the project was created. The children on the street where Anna lived had an orange plastic ball without air to play with, Anna decided that the next time she went to Senegal, she would have footballs with her.

Anna went back to Senegal in December 2014 to greet the family, to hand out footballs and make bracelets to her erstwhile youth company. Anna also brought three footballs, which she handed out, the joy it spread was indescribable. The kids played football without interruption for a whole day, and when the day was over, it was already worn, so we wanted to collect more footballs that we could hand out to even more children!

The project took off, we gathered together nearly 100 soccer balls with the help from companies, sports clubs and individuals all over Sweden and we are incredibly excited about what involvement there was.

Mission: Footballs to Senegal was mentioned by, JULA Sweden, JULA Norway, NWT xtra, Sveriges Radio Gotland.

Together with Projects Abroad Senegal, we distributed footballs to the most needy children in Saint-Louis, Senegal. It was fantastic to get help, because the staff knows what talibéer who needed the help they could get.

A big thanks for the help!
